Court Report – April 10
2008

More from NEQ…
Xceleration 15 Premier received
a Day One OPEN wake up call from NEQ Runner up,
Mad Frogs 15s, in their first
game of pool...but once awake, battled with Mad
Frog, losing Game 2 26-24. Alert and feisty,
the X gained a good win over
TCA-GA,
which advanced the team into a strong Day 2 pool
with
Norco, Niagara Frontier
and
Triangle. After losing two
matches, Xceleration was
desperate for a "W" while Triangle was holding
on for second place. A classic followed:
X 15P came out strong in Game 1 with powerhouse
OH
Sarah Brady striking kills from
pin to pin. Middle Blocker
Jen Whelan
came up with a big block for
point 23 and then went back to serve aces for
the final two points to give
Xceleration the
25-23 win. Triangle responded by controlling
Game 2, winning 25-15.
In the point for point battle of the third game,
6-0 MB
Julie Harvey
set the tone with back-to-back kills out of the
middle to start things for the X.
Libero
Haley
Mork frustrated
the hard hitting Triangle team, laying her
defensive blanket on the court, but Triangle's
size and strength tipped to their favor, as they
won a fun game, 21-19.
Triangle
advanced to finish 4th in the OPEN bracket and
earn a bid to JOs.
Xceleration 15
Premier advanced into the Bronze division,
beating regional foe
Valley Forge
in the semifinals only to fall short in the
Bronze finals to
Charleston
Juniors 15s. Legacy
Volleyball Club of Southeast
Michigan competed very well at the Northeast
Qualifier last weekend. The 15-National and
16-National (and 14 National) teams all made the
GOLD bracket on Sunday. Both 15 N and 16 N fell
one win (versus
Southwest
Juniors) shy of a bid in the
Club division. 16-National received great play
from
Jesse
Prepolec, who is just getting over a
case of mono. 15-National’s offence was led all
weekend by
Kaitlyn
Krause.

Synergy
18s and
Xceleration 18 Premier both represented
the Keystone Region well with their advancement
to the 18 Open Gold bracket. Xceleration was
led by the undersized and savvy three-middle
offense of Kristen Slavoski, Kristen
Hughes (both
uncommitted) and Maddie Rosnick,
who is headed to Carnegie Mellon. The
steady ball control of Leanna
Heston and
Marissa Every
also helped Jeffrey Wismer’s club, which
finished T-10.
In the 16 Open
division, Xceleration 16
Premier defeated Valley Forge
16 Red to qualify for the Gold round
only to face regional foe Synergy 16s.
Synergy
won the cross-town rival match in three highly
contested games and went on to finish tied to
7th. Xceleration checked in 10th.
Court Report – First
Day of Spring Edition

In other action on the court…
Xceleration 18 Premier
went to the fun, well-run
Shamrock Festival in
Roanoke, Virginia and found themselves.
playing their 16th game of the day at 11:20
PM Saturday night. After side switching with an 8-4 lead versus North Carolina's
Player's Edge 18-1s, Player's Edge battled back to establish a
14-10 lead. After siding out, Xceleration's RS,
Millersville University-bound Ali
Huss calmed stepped back to the
serving line and ran off 5 straight points to win the match before midnight.
Premier lost to Southern Maryland Juniors in three tight games
in the Gold quarterfinals 14 hours late
